Staff from ITS Technical Services report that an emergency reboot of the student e-mail server is necessary to prevent a longer-term, uncontrolled outage. The server will go down at 5:05 PM and should be back up within 20 minutes. E-mail service only will be affected during this time.

As part of the “spam attack plan” detailed by Ken Pflueger in his emails to the campus community last month, ITS Technical services has made modifications to the off-campus email servers to enable them to function with our anti-spam system.

Webmail (both owa.pomona.edu and owa-stu1.pomona.ed) is currently down. Our e-mail administrator has been notified.
In the meantime, you can use chip.pomona.edu to access student e-mail.
[UPDATE 10:50PM] Unfortunately, the faculty backup webmail server (dale.pomona.edu) is currently down, too. Several full-time staff members are working on this problem at the moment, and it should be resolved soon.
