At this point, some users are completely unable to access e-mail. Others do not seem to be having any problems. The e-mail administrators are continuting to look into the problem and hopefully will have it resolved soon. We will post more information as it is available.
At this time e-mail services appear to be up but very slow. Appropriate full time staff members have been alerted to the problem and they are currently working to correct the problem.

Update @ 4:18pm: all e-mail services have been restored.
In order to finish the e-mailbox maintenance that was begun a few nights ago, e-mail boxes will be down for small amounts of time. Boxes for students who entered in 2004 will be inaccessible from 10PM Wednesday, Nov 23 through 8 am the following morning, those who entered in 2003 will be inaccessible from 10PM [...]
There is a new virus outbreak which spreads itself via zip file attachments to email messages. If you get such a message please do not open the accompanying zip file. This virus has the ability to mutate faster than the Anti-virus software companies have the ability to issue updates to their software.

There have been intermittent connectivity issues in Mudd Blaisdell this evening starting around 4:00. As far as we’ve been able to tell only Mudd side rooms have been impacted. We are still working to determine the source of the problems.
We will be performing maintenance on Student mailboxes on Saturday night, November 19, between 10 PM and 2 AM. Mailboxes for students whose usernames end in 2002, 2004 and 2005 will be offline for 1-2 hours each during that time period.
The Postini system for spam-filtering is currently down. Postini is an outside service, and thus outside of our control. This effects all subscribers of the Postini service, and thus far, we’ve been unable to contact their technical support group (even their website is down). Once we are able to make contact with [...]
The Pomona web server (which hosts all content at http://pages.pomona.edu/~your_username) is back up after an extended period of downtime (again). It appears that the server has some stability issues, so it is likely that service will be intermittent for the next few days until we resolve the problem.
