Our DNS server is experiencing problems. The full time staff have been notified and are working on the problem. This appears to be another case of DNS cache poisoning, as documented below.
[UPDATE, 9:50PM] The server has been rebooted, resolving the problem.

As of about 9:35 this morning, student e-mail services appear to be operating normally. We still have no indication what the problem was, but we will provide more information as it is available. Sorry for the length of this down time.

As of 10 pm tonight, we noticed that the Pomona DNS Server, was under what appears to be a DNS Cache poisoning attack. What this means, in effect, is that when you type in a website you want to visit, like pomona.edu, you are directed to another site. This has not happened to all sites, […]

At this point the problems that were occuring with student userspace have been fixed. We are still unclear as to what the problem was, but things seem to be working properly.

Several times over the past hour the server hosting student user spaces has had multiple outages lasting approximately 30 seconds each. Network Services staff have been notified and are determining the cause of the problem. As soon as it is resolved we will let you know. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This Friday, March 22, the keyserver will be upgraded. The expected down time is about an hour starting at 5:30. During this time, any programs that are keyserved will not work. This includes Acrobat, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and many other programs. If you have any questions please contact the ITS helpdesk at x18062.
