ITS has a New Building

New ITS Building

Vision and Concept for ITS Facility

The new ITS facility is a strategic building for the College because it will meet a broad range of current and future requirements as well as serving as a technology/space design and demonstration laboratory both for the College and the ITS Department.

The building design will provide the College with an attractive facility that:

  • Provides state of the art services and resources for students and faculty in terms of learning spaces.
  • Brings together all of the key IT infrastructure, resources and services of the College in one, secure location that symbolically and practically is the center of IT activity for the campus community.
  • Is highly flexible and easily adapted to future opportunities/requirements, and that functions as a demonstration lab for the College; offering a space which can demonstrate the possibilities created by the intersection between technology and space design/utilization and in which students, faculty and staff may experiment with and experience those possibilities.
  • Is self-contained so that, in an extreme emergency, it may function as a facility in which mission critical offices of the College could set up a temporary office and continue to conduct the business of the College.

The building design will create the kind of working environment for ITS that:

  • Fosters collaboration and teamwork and which removes physical barriers to communication.
  • Provides highly flexible space which enables ITS staff to experiment with ways in which technology can impact the design and nature of the work and learning environments, thus giving the department the opportunity to be in a position to initiate discussions within the College on future directions in space development and design.
  • Establishes a space that will facilitate ITS’s mission to provide the College community with quality IT services and resources and to be a significant player in the role of technology in learning.
