New and Sudden Spate of Spam

You may have received an email today with the subject line of “Virus Detected” or “Worm Detected” and the email is accompanied by a file type of “.zip”.
ITS has placed an emergency block on any emails containing zip file attachments until all virus signatures have been upgraded to handle the situation.

Dialup Equipment Replaced

ITS has replaced some of the core equipment that is part of the College’s dial-access service for connection to the campus network. We hope that these changes will improve the reliability of the service, but there is no change in the speed of the connection.
