A number of services are available to support faculty technological needs.
Faculty Technology Training
ITS offers training on instructional tools such as Sakai and Luna Insight. New faculty are offered orientation sessions that include an overview of the Pomona networked environment and available desktop and instructional tools. Such one-on-one sessions can also be arranged for existing faculty. Contact the ITS Service Desk to make requests.
TLC-ITS Faculty Development Events
The College Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) and ITS co-sponsor a series of events throughout the academic year on topics that relate to pedagogy and technology.
For more information, see: tlc.pomona.edu
The College subscribes to NITLE (National Institute for Technology in Liberal Education) a non-profit initiative formerly funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. For more info, see: nitle.org. Under the terms of this subscription, professional development opportunities are available throughout the year at minimal cost to faculty members. For details, please contact the Pomona NITLE liaison, Mary McMahon – email@example.com
Hahn Teaching with Technology Grants
Each Spring the Dean of Faculty office and ITS send out a Request for Proposals to faculty wishing special funding to support innovative uses of technology in their teaching. Awards generally range from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
Examples of Hahn grants include scanning images from 35 mm slides and storing them in our digital image library, digitizing video for use as online course content, and developing websites for projects, labs, or professional work.
