Digital Video Help

The College digital video service is available at http://etv.pomona.edu.

Note: you will need Internet Explorer on a PC or Safari or Firefox on a Mac to see the videos.

Videos should be accessible anywhere on the 5C network, as long as the appropriate plugins are installed (see below), and the user has sufficient bandwidth and a computer of recent vintage.

Once you have logged in the first time, the system will automatically send you plug-ins you need to view the videos.

Accept plug-ins the computer advises you what you will need. You will only have to do this the first time.

If plug-ins do not install automatically, here are some tips:

  • For PC Users
    • If your computer doesn’t install the plug-ins automatically, you can install the components for the video viewing software manually.
    • Go to the Start button, then to Run and then copy and paste this address there: \\fargo3\software\ look for a folder called “Vbrick Components” and grab the installer.
    • Double click on the installer.
  • For Mac Users
    • You should see a link on the first digital video screen the first time you log to install the necessary plug-in. If you don’t see that link for the plug-in, you can install the plug-in manually.
    • In Finder select: “Go ->Connect to Server” [apple key] + K
    • Enter smb://fargo3.pomona.edu/macsoftware/ and find the directory for Vbrick Components. Grab the installer and drag it to your machine.
    • Double click on the plug-in to install it. Then reboot your computer after installation.
    • If Safari crashes the first time you try to view a video after installing the plug-in, just restart Safari and it should be fine from then on.
    • If you have a newer Intel-based Mac, please see this help page
  • ITS Lab Computers
    • If you run into trouble on your own computer, the ITS lab computers play these videos well.
