Virtual Private Networking [VPN]

VPN is the most important and most convenient service Pomona offers for off-campus users wishing to use on-campus computer resources. Virtual Private Network, VPN is a secure network service that uses a public telecommunication infrastructure to provide remote offices or individual users with secure access to their organization’s network. Basically, for Pomona College, it allows an off-campus user with high-speed internet access (student, staff or faculty) to act virtually as if his or her machine was on campus. Using VPN, students may access their userspace, network shares, keyserved software, webpages and webservices restricted to campus ip addresses, and they may even connect and print to public campus printers.
